I run Magento 1.X. Will my currently installed extensions from aheadWorks work in Magento 2?

Due to a significant difference between Magento 1 and Magento 2 branches, the extensions for M1 will not work in M2.
However, the owners of the extensions by Aheadworks for Magento 1 can get 25% discount on purchase the same extensions by AW for M2

I'd suggest that you check and make sure that 'Newsletter Subscription Option' values are enabled in the extension configuration at admin. Please note that the checkbox becomes available only when you enter an email address in the field.

How do I make it so that this checkout will keep the "My billing and Shipping address are the same" Selected. I need customers to have the same address for both and cant adjust it.

The extension provides 'Billing and Shipping Addresses are the Same by Default' = Yes/No option that should work for your requirements (see the attached screenshot). I'd suggest that you check and make sure that you are using the latest Smart One Step Checkout on your store. However when a credit card declines, it doesn't show anything. Is there a way we can show a message when transaction is declined?

Our extension utilizes the same logic as Magento does to display messages returned by payment methods.
I'd suggest that you check and make sure that the messages are displayed when using native Magento checkout. Generally, those messages are returned by the payment services and we just can't enforce the extension to generate those failed payment messages itself.

I bought this module because I want to delete Region / state field but I can not deselect, it is not well thought one could remove it, how can I do it?

I'd suggest that you first check 'State is Required for' option configuraton at Stores > Configuration > General > General > State Options to make sure it is not enabled for the countries from the list. Also, the extension utilizes native Magento options, so please check and confirm that Region / State field is not displayed when using a default Magento checkout.

How can we translate the one step checkout to other languages?

The extension texts can be translated via csv file, located on the following path: app/code/Aheadworks/OneStepCheckout/i18n/en_US.csv
It should be enough to create a copy of the CSV file in that directory, rename it to the required locale, de_DE.csv for example, and make a translation of the second part of each line using a standard translation method.
While making the translation, leave the "source string" entry unmodified, and change the "translated string" to your text.

The extension is expected to work with the native Magento captcha feature. Otherwise, customization may be required.
